Being raised in a legalistic Bob Jones University church, and attending BJU - many disciplines are taught and performed, regardless of any heart change. In some ways this is good, in other ways in cultivates a puffed-up heart of pride. Now older, wiser, and living by grace - I’m kinda burnt by disciplines (but know they are good), but I want to get back into the disciplines to enhance my personal relationahip with Jesus everyday. How do I face discipline doing with pride puffing? I still see snobby Christians - makes me sick; however, I also see Christians who don’t know much about the Bible or how to live by faith. My heart hurts for both - and myself.
In Practical Teaching we were asked what we thought was more important, obedience or trust. Our small group leaned toward trust in most of relatinships. This week’s sermon demonstrates the huge importance of discipline. What is the difference between obedience and discipline?
